Currently Playing: Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar

So the Grand Bazaar remake came out today and it is absolutely blowing me away at every turn. I never played the original on the Nintendo DS, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the game itself other than another subpar from a studio that has never really put out anything anything particularly mind blowing. 

But this 

This is such an impressively high quality remake in literally every aspect that it is constantly impressing me at every turn.

Some Days Off

With my mental health being in total shambles nowadays, I look forward to my days off more than ever. It gives me the chance to recharge and go also write my Sonic AU fanfic. 

But these few days are especially gonna be nice because Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar is coming out tomorrow, and I have had the Switch 2 Edition pre-loaded for about a month now, just waiting to unlock. 

I picked up some Dunkin' pumpkin coffee, along with some PSL Starbucks creamer. And while I was doing my shopping, I also discovered that the local grocer now makes sushi fresh in-store. So there is my lunch tomorrow! 

As far as what work I want to get done is, I am thinking of getting my third and final Sonic the Hedgehog OC designed and drawn, just to round out the trio. Writing-wise, I'd like to knock out the two-parter season two premier for Cross-World Hero, and maybe a one-off if I can pull myself away from Story of Seasons long enough!

So why such a generic title? 

When I started this blog, it was meant to be nothing more than a place for me to talk about things from the perspective of my fursona, Advrik Drahcir, but as time went on and I realized I hadn't been doing that like, at all, the blog shifted to what essentially is MY website.

The design harkens back to the webpage designs of the late 90s and early 00s, akin to something hosted on Angelfire or Geocities. Central content, with columns on the left and right full of links and little images. Even a hit counter. 

The blog had evolved to be a place where I could post my pictures, videos, reminisce in the form of the ReCollection series about my past experiences with a specific media, be it a video game or movie; Works of love fueled purely by nostalgia. A means of gathering my memories of years past while they're still alive and well in my constantly aging brain.

But more than that, I post my writings here. My main creative outlet these days. Both my bigger narrative-driven pieces, like Last Tail and Cross-World Hero, but also one-off stuff like my series of horror short stories that take place in my hometown.

My bedroom was where I went on a multitude of adventures, both via video games and with my toy collection. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Godzilla, Dragon Ball(even though I had no idea what that was in 1995). Even had Mega Man stuff back then, thanks to the Ruby-Spears cartoon merch making it possible. I filmed short movies using my toys or narrated a playthrough of Mega Man X2 with my old bulky camcorder.

Today, these things still occur, but in the form of my writing. And while my 30-something body and mind just want to sit down and play games, read a book or browse the internet(as I am doing right now), my blog and various writing projects are serving as the new writing desk or bedroom floor where I played with my toys, acting out battles between Mega Man and the Megazord.

My childhood, and even today, was heavily based around my bedroom. 
That's where all of my adventures and the majority of my fondest memories had taken place. I wasn't, nor am I still, a very social being. And with my ailing mental state, my room has only become that much more important to me as the world outside decays and becomes less and less habitable day by day. But at the end of those days, I know my room is still a safe place; My base of operations. My hub world.

Currently Watching: Cujo

 Recently finished the book and loved it. Now I need to rewatch the film and point out all the things I miss about the book.

Nintenget: Jitsu Squad

Had no idea that Johnny Gioeli performed some vocal tracks for this game. It had always been on my radar just for being a beat-em up with anthropomorphic characters, but learning of Gioeli being involved and the physical edition only being $14, it was a no-brainer purchase. 

Nikoderiko Initial Impressions

I am legit loving it. It's obviously not as polished as a Nintendo affair(but what actually is?), but what it is is a above average platformer with nice visuals, cute characters and great music!

I'd even go as far as way it's better than Donkey Kong Country Returns, but nowhere near the quality of Tropical Freeze.

What the Cross-World Hero (Sonic the Hedgehog) AU Looks Like

Language: Mostly in line with canon. Swearing is non-existent. Characters are more snarky and a good deal more sarcastic, with regular insults that aren't limited to just insulting a characters intelligence. Characters and narrator will occasionally refer to a character's chest, for which the only word that exists in this universe for breasts is "boobs" or "boobies". 

Violence: Definitely outside the canon realm. Characters bleed, experience broken body parts and can and will die. Nothing one wouldn't see outside of a PG-13 movie, especially where gore and mutilation is concerned.

Examples: The damage from a homing attack on a living being's body will be reflected. Mutations caused by the antagonistic entities. Descriptions of injured and dying/dead people. 

Sexuality: This was a part that I fought myself on. I don't want the world to be devoid of it as it is in the main canon, but I don't want rampant perversion and horniness as that's what my OTHER animal people story is like. That said, I do want to occasionally breach the subject, specifically for the likes of Athena. Because I am that kind of person that just HAS to have some fan service elements in his work

Examples: Male/female characters checking each other out. Obscured nudity. Vague descriptions. Breast physics. 

Story: 'X-World Hero' rewrites some minor events of Sonic Forces, specifically giving an identity to The Rookie and incorporating the existence of the Freedom Fighters into a modern continuity. Events within the IDW comics up until the Clean Sweep arc still occur, though the Restoration HQ does not get destroyed.

The biggest change will come from the world's perception of Sonic the Hedgehog following the Egg War, with Mobius becoming more critical of his actions and their consequences. From the point of view of Laik and characters outside of Sonic's primary circle(Tails, Amy, Knuckles), readers can catch a glimpse into the every day people's waning opinion on the hedgehog.
