Pawblade - What is it?

~ What is "Pawblade"?
My new project and the grand culmination of everything I've dabbled in over the last two decades! It is a manga/video game inspired piece of literature aimed at adult readers, starring a diverse cast of anthropomorphic animals, humans and other creatures, all making it together in a world that's existence is owed to the creative brilliance that exists solely thanks to the creative minds of intelligent life all across our cosmos.

And what I mean by "thanks to the creative minds" is that the planet of Nostal, the world in which Pawblade plays out on, came to be much in the same way as the final dungeon of Final Fantasy IX had, of which I will not spoil here.

~ Does the title have any significance?
Nope, not really. Remy Niscent, one of the main characters, wields a flashy, blue-bladed katana of no real significance, but beyond that, the name "Pawblade" just sounds neat. Slightly inspired by 'Xenoblade', I suppose.

~ How is the story structured?
I'm drawing influences from the way manga volumes are structured when it comes to story arcs. For example, while the first "volume" will comprise three lengthy chapters, later volumes may range anywhere from five to ten shorter, <3000 word chapters, with additional "for funsies" one-offs reserved for the 'Pawblade - Side Quests' subseries.

~ Why all the crossover stuff?
Honestly, it's because I want to write for fun. If I feel like I must craft this vast universe and everything in it within every single paragraph, the fun suddenly becomes work. 
In addition to that, I have fond memories of the games, anime, and movies I've enjoyed over the three-plus decades I've been alive, and would like to interact with such material in my own way.

~ And the content warnings?
Pawblade is intended for mature/adult audiences, despite the worlds and franchises it may sometimes crossover with. The cast are primarily adults in their mid-to-late 20s (save for one) and thus react and are treated as such. 

Pawblade contains:

• Extreme violence and (sometimes) gore
• Rampant sexuality
• Nudity
• Coarse language at times, depending on the setting (Earth, for example)
• Antiquated terminology that may offend some readers.

And if you take the non-canon "Scrambled Channel" stuff into account, it's just straight-up porn, but that's just something I do on the side when I like a specific character interaction and want to see a "What-If" happen.

Pawblade's prologue chapter is available now, with (hopefully) weekly postings happening beginning the first week of October.

Currently Watching: Neon Genesis Evangelion

As a kid on the internet in the late 90s/early 2000s, Evangelion always had this grand mysticism about it. It always felt so far out of reach for a kid my age, only adding to the legend it was becoming in my head. 

Now, in 2026, I am finally watching it via the blu-ray set my sister got me for my birthday.

Thoughts so far? It has lived up to the hype I built up in my head over the years. As an adult. If I were to have watched this as a kid, however, I feel like my feelings towards it might have ended up being completely different. 

Secret of Memoria, Last Tail, CrossActs, and now... Pawblade

 Hey there everyone, 

I wanted to take a moment to (re) introduce my current project, now re-titled 'Pawblade' to differentiate itself from an older project of mine, all of which, including CrossActs, will soon be made available here on ToyHouse! 

What is the significance of the new title? Eh, well, nothing, really. It's a nod to Xenoblade in a way, but at the same time, has nothing to really do with the overall plot beyond featuring anthropomorphic animals that sometimes wield bladed weapons. It's simple, short, and rolls off the tongue nicely. Plus, I have a really neat idea for a logo that I hope to share soon!

Okay, you might wonder now (if you bothered to read this far) what IS Pawblade about?

Pawblade is an epic fantasy, thrown into a blender with a hearty sampling of cozy slice-of-life living. The product comes out with a neutral flavor, sure, but it's when you add the special sauces that things really begin to pop! Like CrossActs before it, Pawblade is a story set in a universe that wouldn't be possible without the creative minds behind all the media we know and love! That's right, besides Pawblade being its own thing with a totally original world/central hub, it's also intended as a massive crossover/multiverse project with the main intent on giving me a vehicle in which I can write "fanfiction" about whatever game, anime, movie (etc.) that I want, using my own foundation, characters and logic.

But the crossover elements don't exist outside of the central world in which my cast exist; oh no. Elements from across the entirety of existence can, have, and will appear on the planet Nostal itself; a world born from the very warm, fuzzy feeling known has—surprise!—nostalgia. But not just any nostalgia: my own.

The universe I am creating is for me and just me, and if others find a way to have fun there as well, then great! But I am writing this for me first and foremost.

'Pawblade is the tale of a wolflike by the name of Remy Niscent. A timber wolf beastfolk, raised by a martial arts master in the town of Memoria, on the Eastern Continent's Horseshoe Peninsula. Despite his upbringing, the wolflike had taken a greater interest in weapon-based arts than hand-to-hand, to the dismay of his adoptive father. Using his skills with the blade, a mysterious blue-tinged katana called 'Canine', Remy ekes out a living taking on odd-jobs around the town and hunting monsters whenever the requests present themselves.
 

One day, on one otherwise uneventful fishing trip, Remy encounters one of the eight governing forces of nature on Nostal: Shade, the Elemental of Darkness. There he is whisked away against his will to another planet and tasked with a very non-specific goal: Connect.
 

However, lurking in the shadows, sinister forces are at work with a mission yet to be revealed, led by none other than the dreaded skull-faced elk himself.

So that's Pawblade in a nutshell. It's a vehicle for me to just write and have fun with subjects, characters, and worlds I personally enjoy.

Now for some content warnings.
Pawblade is very easily considered a mature-rated story, despite the overall tone and kid-friendly series it (eventually) crosses over with. The cast are all adults, and thus are acting and thinking like adults… for the most part. 

Rampant perversion, sexual themes, extreme over the top violence and gore are all common tropes sure to be found as the story progresses.

 
Nostalians, be it the beastfolk or human variety, are a reserved people; their vocabulary lacks vulgar language and the more racy terminology for certain body parts (tits, dick, pussy, etc.), so while none of the main cast will be heard uttering such, in the even that I want to bring the adventures to Earth (Spoiler: I already have), then yeah, the language is going to reflect the world they're on.

Cafe Special: Nintendo Direct Expectations, Predicitons and Wishes for September 2026

 It's that time again! That glorious, wonderful span of time we in the Nintendo sphere know as Direct Season. The sometimes quarterly event where Nintendo and their publishing partners makes dreams come true--or crush them!

The September Direct is typically the big showcase event more often than not, with multiple titles for the following year getting teased or announced. It's where I got my original Animal Crossing New Horizons tease back in 2018.

 Expectations, Predictions and Wishes

• Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake gets a nice little trailer to kick off the Direct, which segways into a some anniversary talk from Aounuma, who then passes it over to Miyamoto to deliver the first trailer for the upcoming 'Legend of Zelda' movie. A Zelda-focused Direct is then announced for more anniversary news.
• With the announcement of a full-blown Direct dedicated specifically to the Legend of Zelda series, my opening expectation now is for a new, English Xenoblade Genesis trailer with release date. We'll get some character introductions, some background on the lore and a decent look at the combat system.

We get funneled into our first batch of headlines, which will include announcements for...

• The next batch of Resident Evil remakes for the Switch 2
• An announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Switch 2
• Mega Man Dual Override gets a new trailer, introducing a new Amiibo, another new Robot Master and footage of playable Protoman
• Romancing Saga 3 remake, which was previously leaked.

The halfway point will have people positively ravenous for the next big first party reveal, which is none other than Metroid 6, developed by MercurySteam. This reveal will be partnered with the announcement of the Switch 2 edition of Metroid Dread, which in addition to the usual 4k60fps upgrade, will see new story content that ties into the events of Metroid 6.

We'll also get some news on Nintendo Switch Online, with a price hike across the board and maybe a new console added to the basic plan to justify it.

Finally, before the next batch of headlines begin, they'll end the midway point with the announcement of a DLC season pass for Mario Kart World.

• Final Fantasy XVI for Switch 2 will finally be announced and I can finally write off the game that got away from me during the Steam Deck era. 
• The new Story of Seasons game will be revealed in full, and will be a full blown Tale of Two Towns remake, coming Spring 2027.
• I expect something new related to Star Fox as well. DLC for the June release or something new entirely.
• The long rumored, often debated Chrono Trigger HD2D remake will finally be announced and is coming Summer 2027, with a demo released later that day for feedback purposes. 

Finally, after a few more headlines, the Direct will end on a high note: A new 3D Super Mario game for 2027. The teaser won't be long, but it will show enough to drive the internet wild.

And for my own personal wishes.

Splatoon 4. I know we just got Raiders, but I'm ready for the next mainline game in the series. I want to be a part of it and the Splatfests from start to finish, as I'd skipped Splatoon 3 and regretted it. 

I don't expect the next Animal Crossing to be announced for another year or two, but what I would like to see as a digital-exclusive, is a localized version of Doubutso No Moire E+, the Japanese version of the Gamecube game, localized and with the in-game clock adjusted to be able to extend past 2030. It could be added to the Gamecube app itself with rewind and save states disabled, or released as a standalone. It would be called Animal Crossing DX and launch later that day.

Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia finally drop on the Nintendo Classics SNES app.
